Hi, does anyone here have a mousebird? There does not seem to be a lot of people who know much about them. I have had mine for around 7 months now and boy is he a joy. The only thing about these birds are that they are high maintance. Anyway if there is someone who knows about them let me know, because I have many questions. Lady

Hi Katz,

If you ever want a loving, giving, affectionate, and mellow bird the mousebird is for you. However, they are high maintenance. They require fruits and vegetables on a daily basis and their droppings are messy, more liquid then anything else. If they weren’t high maintenance, they would be great for older people. They like to stay with you and do not make much noise. Mine stays in my hand as long as I allow him too. Some pet shops carry them, however, they are so new here that not everyone has them yet. There are a couple of breeders here in California that ship them to you. If you are interested, let me know and I will give you the site that you can speak to a breeder. I do not have that information right at the moment. If there is anything else let me know… Lady

Hi Katz, this is one of the places that you can get the mousebirds, there is another, but for some reason I cannot find her address. I will keep looking. This person has different types of Softbills she sales also DLAviaries@aol.com. If you ever decide to get one really think about it, like I said they are high Maintenance, but very loving and forgiving birds. They do not stay mad at you and they do not have attitude at all. Anyway, when I find the other address I will let you know. Lady

I saw the mousebird in your pictures Katz, I forgot which one that was is. Mine is a speckled, he has blue on the top of his head and blue and on his wings, which you you do not see until he is a lot of light. Have you found anyone who knows a lot about them? I still have not found anyone who can answer questions regarding a diet besides the fruits and veggies. It seems that there should be more to it. I cannot say for sure, but I do not think that they get that stuff in the wild all the time. Anyway, keep up the good work on your web site. Lady

What a nice surprise! It has been awhile. I have found another gal who would like one!
They sure take cute pictures-still haven't seen one in person yet. Keep checking back though-we have LOTS of new members so maybe we have another owner in the group. Katz
